Neogen Dermalogy Real Fresh Foam Cranberry facial wash review

This is a cleanser I have just recently finished up. I actually enjoy the fact that now, having discovered Korean beauty products (and a website I can order from, conveniently), I can try more face washes than before. I say that because having used a few Korean face washes my observation is that most of them are quite gentle on your skin. Go into a western drug store and you will have a huge selection of face washes that are loaded with skin drying ingredients even if the product claims to be for sensitive skin. That is an issue, as more and more people have rosacea and next to nothing to cleanse their faces with. If you try really hard you might find a few but those are mostly confined to health food stores (like the Dead Sea spa magic cleanser I have reviewed already).

This is a cleanser I generally liked. There are a few things that I did not, I will talk about those too. So first off it comes in a pump bottle, one that pumps the liquid out like a foam. That is a really fun concept that I generally like as it feels very light on your skin. It’s a plastic bottle that has a small compartment on the bottom that has actual cranberries inside submersed in the same liquid. I will show you a picture so you can see better what I’m trying to explain.

Now that is quite a unique concept to have the actual fruit soaking in there, especially as it is only divided by a thin plastic from the rest of the bottle. What this means is that you get the most of the real fruit benefits and when you run out of the product and turn it upside down and shake it gently it will leak some of the liquid from that bottom compartment into the main part of the bottle. So you can almost use up the product but there is still a small amount left in there. The reason why I didn’t shake it further is because 1. it foams up as you shake it and the foam doesn’t really leak as well as the actual liquid and 2. once you turn this product upside down, it tends to leak at the neck of the pump mechanism. I wanted to take this on holiday with me but I couldn’t. As soon as I have turned it horizontally it started leaking. That is something I don’t like. Maybe the pump could be done better. Another issue I have with this is the fact that it doesn’t last very long. Due to the fresh fruit component to it, the product lasts 6 months from opening so you need to use it up before it goes off. I guess if this is the only cleanser you use it’s ok, but if you have different cleansers for morning and evening then it will last you possibly longer and you run the risk of it expiring before you’ve used it up.

But let’s see what are the good points of this foam cleanser. As I have rosacea the first thing I liked about it is the gentle action. It didn’t dry out my skin or made it feel tight at all. It smells amazing, quite natural, doesn’t smell fake like one of those car fresheners, if you know what I mean. It foams up just enough to be effective but not too foamy for you to look like father Christmas. In  contact with your skin the foam breaks down a little and will be more of a liquid again. I feel that for me two pumps were enough to remove the oil cleanser I use beforehand. My skin felt fresh and hydrated. Make sure you don’t get this in your eyes as it stings. But then this isn’t meant to be used on your eyes like most cleansers usually.

Another thing about this cleanser is that it’s rich in antioxidants so it claims to help with aging, although I didn’t notice any anti aging effect from this. The truth is, anti aging cleansers seem a gimmick to me as a cleanser will never stay on your skin for long enough to have any effect at all. I have had a look at the ingredients list and I wouldn’t  normally use something that has such a long list of components, but if you take a close look, most of them are plant extracts. The list is a little crazy 🙂

It is worth taking a look in case you are allergic to any of these as it contains a lot. The product is 160 grams and it lasted for about 4 months. The price for this on yesstyle is about £15. That is a bit expensive but I feel the product is worth that much. All in all not a bad product at all. I would buy this again if I wasn’t so keen on trying other ones out. At the moment I am experimenting with another Korean cleanser and I will let you know how that goes.
