This product has got to be the most exciting find of my life since I have developed rosacea. It has quite literally transformed my skin in the gentlest way possible. To start out I will mention that this is a Korean product that has green tea extract and niacinamide in it. Since I developed an interest in Korean skin care I noticed that a lot of their products contain green tea and my face seems to be loving it. I had green tea oil cleansers, foam cleansers, toners, masks and creams and they have all gave my skin the best time it has ever had.
Speaking of ingredients, this is not the first skincare item that I try that contains niacinamide. The first one I tried was The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% and Zinc 1% and I have already reviewed that on my blog. First time round it didn’t bother my rosacea at all, I would say even improved it. However, since my nasal spray experience this has not been the case. I have repurchased the Ordinary serum again in a 60 ml version, but they must have either changed something in the formulation or my skin has changed since the nasal spray, I don’t know. All I know is that it dried out the skin on my cheeks like crazy, to the point of itching and scaling. It wasn’t a pretty sight. That is when I remembered that I did previously try this serum as well and liked it a lot and I thought it must have been the niacinamide content of both that have helped. Hence I went on to Yesstyle and I have reordered this product, this time I stocked up and bought 4!
Niacinamide can be particularly good for rosacea for a multitude of reasons. It is known for it’s anti inflammatory and skin repairing qualities as well as pore control and sebum production, not to mention it has an excellent anti-aging element to it as well. It targets wrinkles by hydrating skin and encouraging cell turnover via gentle exfoliation. It’s also anti-pollution and is recommended for anyone who experiences environmental skin stressors, since it helps to calm the skin down after being exposed to external triggers. I think it’s fair to say that when you got rosacea you have got to deal with all the above especially over the age of 30.
Other excellent ingredients in this serum include Centella Asiatica (also known as gotukola or cica) that has excellent skin calming and soothing properties. Two other noteworthy ingredients are betaine and allantoin which both moisturize and sooth the skin.
Much to my surprise, upon studying the ingredient list they have even managed to squeeze in oligopeptides which are great at anti-aging. The remainder of the ingredients are mostly plant extracts as per usual in most Korean products.
It is worth mentioning that if you also have acne prone skin then this product is a double whammy as it is a fermented. As the fermentation process increases the level of antioxidants in other ingredients, this can be excellent for balancing the skin.
If these amazing ingredients weren’t good enough already, I also love the consistency of this product. It’s a light gel that spreads easily and sinks in without being sticky. It’s so light that in fact I can layer more stuff on top, like a lightweight peptide serum in the morning or a heavier one in the evening as well as a moisturizer all without the fear of it pilling (balling up). The bottle is well designed, it pumps out a very reasonable amount and it is easy to use.
I use it both morning and night after toner and before my peptide serum and I don’t think I’m ever going to stop using this. When I returned to using this following the dry skin TO left behind, it very lightly tingled my skin for about 3 days but that disappeared afterwards. The redness started decreasing at about the 10-day mark. Please don’t be afraid to give this a go as it can greatly reduce redness and sooth your skin. Pricewise this is unbeatable for what it does at approximately £12 for 60 ml. Korean products usually have double the amount of product than western ones, where a serum of this calibre can be 30 ml and at least double the price if not triple.
If there is one product that I can wholeheartedly recommend is this one. Try and see for yourself.
